Doris Law Office is a multi-service law firm offering a wide range of services to individuals and businesses in Ontario, the U.S., and abroad. We have a strong regional presence with offices in Ottawa, Brockville, Prescott and Perth.
We are seeking a full-time Junior Law Clerk/Administrative Assistant to work with our Corporate/Commercial Department. This position will be based in our Ottawa office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting routine and complex corporate documents, including incorporation and organizational materials, by-laws, minutes and resolutions, amendments, amalgamations, dissolutions, revivals and continuances, both federal and Ontario;
• Assisting Solicitors and Senior Clerk with the preparation of corporate documents in share purchase/sale and asset purchase/sale transactions;
• Assist with the maintenance of solicitor’s calendar, ensuring documents are ready for appointments and coordinating with Senior corporate Clerk to assure all documents are prepared in timely manner and deadlines are met;
• Responsible for ensuring accounts are properly docketed and billed in timely fashion;
• Assist with other projects as needed, including providing front desk support (this is not a receptionist position but a front-of-the-office position).

Qualifications:

• Minimum two year Law Clerk diploma from college or suitable combination of education and experience;
• Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in law office, and preferably working with corporate/commercial transactions (we will be open to training the right candidate);
• Strong knowledge of Ontario Corporations Business Act and Canadian Corporations Business Act;
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PC Law;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills;
• Strong interpersonal skills and professional presentation;
