Doris Law Office is a multi-service law firm offering a wide range of services to individuals and businesses in Ontario, the U.S., and abroad. We have a strong regional presence with offices in Ottawa, Brockville, Prescott and Perth.
We are seeking a full-time Law Clerk to work with our Estates/Wills and Real Estate Lawyer and provide support to our Junior Associate. This position will be based in our Ottawa office, working closely with the Prescott office team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting estate planning documents;
• Drafting inter vivo and testamentary trust documents;
• Preparing draft Estate Administration documents for filing with Superior court, including assisting the solicitor with obtaining pertinent information, contacting financial institutions, posting notices and all ancillary tasks associated with the estate administration process;
• Assist with the maintenance of solicitor’s calendar, ensuring documents are ready for appointments and coordinating with real estate team for real estate closings;
• Responsible for ensuring accounts are properly docketed and billed in timely fashion;
• Assist with other projects as needed, including providing support to the junior associate.

Qualifications:

• Minimum two year Law Clerk diploma from college or suitable combination of education and experience;
• Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in law office, and preferably working with wills and estates;
• Strong knowledge of Ontario Estate Administration rules (we will be open to training the right candidate);
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Do Process software and PC Law (familiarilty with Do Process software, i.e., estate-a-base, willbuilder, conveyancer, helpful);
• Strong verbal and written communication skills;
• Strong interpersonal skills and professional presentation;
• The ability to prioritize, juggle multiple tasks effectively and efficiently and handle changing priorities and the ability to work in
